Employment and development

Opportunity for flexible working hours

Working hours and working time models are designed differently in our operations. In most of our operations, there is an opportunity for flexible working hours.

Vacation

All employees with us have at least 25 vacation days, and as a newly employed, you have paid vacation accrued from day one. The year you turn 40, you get 31 days, and when you turn 50, you get 32 days, which is just over six weeks of vacation.

Skills development

We give staff members the opportunity for learning and skills development in their daily work. With us, you have the opportunity to study with financial support from Region Värmland. In certain professional areas, you may receive paid further education. The financial support is based on the needs of the operation and is assessed on a case-by-case basis. For our managers, we offer a solid management training in several steps.

Through our clinical training center, staff members in healthcare can receive continuous skills development. Here, theoretical education is integrated with practical exercises based on evidence and proven experience in a simulated environment.

Salary, benefits, and insurance

We take care of you as a staff member and create conditions for financial security throughout life.

Supplement to parental insurance

If you have been employed for at least 180 calendar days before paid parental leave, you will receive a supplement corresponding to 10 percent of the loss of salary, for a maximum of 180 calendar days in a row. The supplement is based on the salary that applies on the first calendar day of the parental leave.

Sick pay

In addition to the sickness benefit you receive from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, Region Värmland provides a salary supplement to reduce your loss of income in case of illness. As a staff member, you receive sick pay for up to 14 calendar days when you are sick. After that, an amount corresponding to ten percent of the loss of salary is paid (at the longest until the 90th calendar day of the sick period).

Insurance

We have taken out special security insurance in case of work injury for all our staff members. In case of work injury, you have the opportunity to receive compensation for lost work earnings, pain and suffering, and for expenses that may arise in connection with the work injury. As a staff member with us, you also have group life insurance that provides financial protection for surviving spouse or registered partner or cohabitant and children. You are also covered by personal injury, work injury insurance and, of course, have travel insurance for business trips.

Occupational pension

When you are employed with us, you are covered by collective agreement pension agreements that supplement the statutory pension. We pay an annual pension contribution corresponding to six percent of the income to the pension or fund insurance that you choose yourself. The agreement also includes pension for survivors and family protection.

Salary exchange

In addition to the payments we make to your future pension, you have the opportunity to make a voluntary pension contribution that affects your future pension. Then you postpone part of your salary to instead increase your pension savings, a so-called salary exchange.

Health and wellness

As an employer, it is important for us to take care of you – even outside of work.

Benefits portal

In our benefits portal, we gather current benefits related to health and wellness. Here you will find a wide range of health and wellness services, everything from yoga to martial arts or dance.

Wellness allowance

We want to promote health and wellness for all staff members. An important part of the health-promoting work is the wellness allowance. Each staff member has 3,000 SEK to use for exercise and other wellness activities.

Free training, wellness hour, and association life

We have our own gym facilities that offer free training for all employees. They are located in Arvika, Torsby and Karlstad. If you work in a so-called health-promoting workplace, you have the opportunity to engage in wellness during working hours for one hour per week, when work allows it.

We have a number of engaged associations at our work sites that organize various activities, such as leisure associations and art associations.

Occupational health - Regional health service (Regionhälsan)

Regionhälsan is our own internal occupational health and support resource. At Regionhälsan there is an occupational nurse, occupational physician, psychologist, behavioral scientist, physiotherapist, ergonomist, instructor in transfer knowledge, self-protection and object handling, and work environment engineer. Regionhälsan is also responsible for the program "health-promoting workplace" and our gyms at the Central hospital in Karlstad and the hospital in Arvika.

Sustainable working life

Within Region Värmland, we conduct ambitious work towards a sustainable working life within the framework of Agenda 2030. We are constantly developing the health-promoting work environment and health work to create good conditions for employees' well-being and health.

Health-promoting workplaces

Health-promoting work can contribute to a reduced risk for employees to suffer from illness and stress, to reduce sick leave, and increase well-being and engagement in everyday work.

All workplaces can apply to become a part of the program "health-promoting workplace", and we offer managers and safety representatives customized work environment training.

Favorable discounts for travel by bus and train

Region Värmland wants to stimulate our staff members to travel more collectively. It's both good for the environment and your wallet. Therefore, the region offers a new discount of 50 percent for travel by bus and train.

Passenger car

Region Värmland offers all permanent employees the benefit of leasing a staff car. The offer includes electric cars, plug-in hybrids, and gas cars.

Collaboration and participation

Through dialogue and participation in everyday life, in staff member appraisals, at workplace meetings and in collaboration groups, your ideas are taken care of. We develop our work place and business together with you as a staff member and through collaboration with our trade union organizations.
