Moving to Sweden and Värmland County

Moving to a new country can feel like a huge step, and it is of course, but Region Värmland will be with you every step of the way. We make sure you get all the support you need to make the move and to get integrated into your new workplace and local community.

Our recruitment group in charge of recruiting foreign staff members has a long history of systematically integrating new emplyees. The knowledgebase includes laws and regulations concerning migration and authorization, educational demands that has to be met, conditions for good introduction, integration and many other things.

Relocation service and introduction

For positions that require Swedish licensure, we offer a comprehensive introduction package. We want your introduction to your new job and life in Värmland to go as smoothly as possible and for you to feel at home.

Swedish course

The course is full-time Monday to Friday when you have moved to Sweden. The course prepares you for the Swedish level C1 which is the required level of Swedish you will need in order to apply för your Swedish license to practice. During the course you will receive an educational salary. You can also start Swedish course online before you move to Sweden, part time or full time if it is possible and after that join the full time course in Sweden. When we have vacant spaces on the Swedish course we can also offer partners/spouses to take part in the course. For partners/spouses the Swedish course is unpaid

Relocation support

We offer support in the following areas:

• Home seach.
  We find an apartment or house for you and your family based on your wishes and needs.
• Partner job.
  We assist your partner to find a job. We can also help with starting up their own business.
• Working and residence permit.
  If needed we apply for working and residence permit.
• Start package.
  We arrange everything from register at tax office, banking, insurance, find preschool, schools for the children, internet and more practical things you need when you are moving to another county.

Introduction and supervision

When you start working with us, you will recieve an introduction to what it is like to work within Värmland County Council. The introduction consists of different steps. An important part is the workplace introduction, which gives you a good start for your employment and welcomes you into the community of your new workplace. Certain professions also have a vocational introduction, so you can feel comfortable and secure in your professional role.
